Friends of the Lion
Friends of the Lion is an Association for South Africans who have family and close friends living in the UK. Friends of the Lion is the sister Association to the Friends of the Springbok, and both are part of the Weaving International Friendship Foundation, founded by Stuart Weaving in 1968. Membership is only R120 per year and you can apply right here.
Free flight benefit for emergencies
Included in Friends of the Lion membership is a free emergency flight benefit. This benefit applies to the member and a nominated overseas loved one. This means that in the event of serious accidental injury or accidental death to either party a FREE compassionate ticket is provided on the first available flight, up to a value of R10 000. Friends of the Springbok
Apart from Friends of the Lion services in South Africa, members can call on the services of the Friends of the Springbok in the UK. Situated close to Londonís Heathrow airport they will ensure you and your family are looked after in a very special way. In conjunction with Friends of the Springbok, members can sponsor relatives and loved ones for travel from the UK to SA and pay for all or part of the air tickets in South Africa.
We can arrange to send your loved ones in the UK fresh flowers from the island of Guernsey. Fragrant bouquets of freesias and carnations can be delivered within days. Prices start from under £20 including VAT and delivery.
In conjunction with Gourmet Gifts we have our own gift service for delivery to your loved ones. You can choose from a range of gifts including hampers, personalised cakes, fruit, chocolates, champagne and wine.
Membership card and newsletter
When you join you will get a Friends of the Lion Membership Card and go on our mailing list to receive information on travelling and events and happenings throughout the UK.
